How does Player Feedback Shape Evony’s Development?

At TGI, listening to players isn’t a box to check. Instead, it drives how the team designs, builds, and operates every title, including Evony: The King’s Return.  Over time, this philosophy has evolved into a full-funnel approach to user analysis, which enables the team to track the entire player journey from ad engagement to install, onboarding, gameplay, monetization, and long-term retention.

Full-Funnel Analytics: Combining Behavior with Feedback

To execute this, the team runs regular tests with player cohorts across different regions. However, the goal extends beyond gathering qualitative feedback through comments and surveys. In fact, the team pairs that feedback with granular behavioral data that reveals what players actually do. For instance, this data tracks how players navigate early tutorials, where they convert or drop off, how long they use new features, and what keeps them returning each week. Qualitative input shows what players say, while behavioral data shows what they do. By combining both, the team bases decisions on clear signals rather than noise.

This distinction matters because not every piece of feedback should shape the roadmap. In fact, trying to satisfy every request quickly dilutes a game’s core identity. Instead, the team quantifies and qualifies player input, contextualizes player behavior, and aligns it with broader design and business goals. From there, the team prioritizes feedback that drives meaningful improvements for both the player experience and long-term game health.

UX Refinements in Practice: Optimizing Daily Gameplay

This attention to detail shows up clearly in a recent version update. Take the General page, for example. It now includes a Power Details icon. Tapping it reveals a player’s Power breakdown, making improvement opportunities obvious. Players no longer need to calculate each bonus source manually. Meanwhile, the team refined the Power displays for Generals, Equipment, and Dragons, making value changes easier to read at a glance. Additionally, the Dragon upgrade pop-up now shows specific Buff details immediately after an upgrade completes, so players know exactly what changed.

Similarly, the team polished the Civilization Cards exchange system. The main Exchange interface now displays all card requests in one place. However, players can still access specific card exchanges through the Details page. By default, the system shows requests for World Civilizations cards, but players can adjust filters to view other themes. These exchange requests also show real-time collection progress to help players make better choices. Finally, the team fixed an issue where the pop-up incorrectly displayed “Gave Cards” and “Received Cards” after a successful exchange.

Individually, none of these changes are headline features. Yet, this exact level of detail determines daily gameplay smoothness. The team eliminated manual Power calculations with a single tap. Likewise, they replaced multi-screen searches for card exchanges with a unified entry point and real-time progress. Ultimately, each adjustment reflects close observation of player movement and a constant effort to reduce friction.

Furthermore, this player-first approach extends far beyond individual features. It shapes the broader roadmap, guides early-stage design choices, and directs how teams allocate time and resources. Rather than chasing trends, the team prioritizes work based on genuine community needs, relying on direct feedback and engagement data.

As a result, concrete player data shapes updates and new systems rather than pure assumptions. The team evaluates all new content, event structures, and system changes through this exact lens before releasing them to the wider community.

Ultimately, this reflects a simple core belief at TGI: feedback holds value only when it drives action. Data-informed decision-making and a continuous commitment to detail allow the team to refine Evony: The King’s Return in ways that truly resonate with its community, update after update.
